17 times Grand Slam champion and 4 times Australian Open winner Roger Federer reached his sixth Australian open finals after defeating Stanislas Wawrinka in the five set thriller 7-5, 6-3, 1-6, 4-6, 6-3. The United States’ 35-year-old Serena Williams and 36-year-old Venus Williams will compete against each other in the finals of the women’s singles event.

Roger Federer will be playing his 100th Australian Open match on Sunday. Roger (35) has become the oldest man to reach the finals of Grand Slam since Ken Rosewall made to the 1974 US Open finals at the age of 39. Venus Williams is the oldest woman to reach Australian Open women’s final in the modern era.

Indo-Swiss pair of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis lost in the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles event to Australian pair of Samantha Stosur and Sam Groth. Sania Mirza is the only Indian in the race for mixed doubles title who will play her semi-final match on Friday with Ivan Dodig.
