There was a time when Bigg Boss was actually “the boss” of the television industry. There was a time when the TRP of this show ruled the television world. It was a top show with immense popularity and craze among the people to switch their television on, even before the show began. The show still is a part of the television world, but unfortunately the difference today is – it is no more a hit now. In other words, its popularity and word-of-mouth have now become mere chapters of the past.

We thought and we thought, and we figured out these five main reasons for the downfall of ‘Bigg Boss’:

Monotonous format: Despite coming with various ideas in order to keep its hold strong in the Indian television, it kind of failed to create its impact on the people in comparison to its previous seasons. Lack of original content and unoriginal ideas, according, are the main factors that made the show kind of monotonous season after season.

Unnecessary fights: In the current scenario who doesn’t enjoy watching fights and heated arguments? There have been N number of fights, war of words and use of abusive language in the Bigg Boss house…but the continuous fights witnessed in the show this season were sometimes really hard to bear and made the viewers go mad. Even a touch or a poke by Dimpy Ganguly (during a task) made Pritam aggressive; Farah Khan, in a trick played by her, just mentioned Ali’s intention to give a 45 minutes speech on Karishma Tanna, made the latter snap on him without even knowing the entire matter. Most of the clashes in the house were uncalled for.

Childish behaviour: Rather than childish, it was more of insensitive behaviour that various contestants projected while they were inside the house. For instance, Ali’s habit of saying “Maa ki kasam” whenever something went wrong became annoying after a while. Seeing them reacting to the situations in a senseless manner, considering their *cough cough* age, experience and the kind of fame they have in the industry, was just like watching a disaster on the screens.

Over acting and over reacting: The amount of emotional drama created in the Bigg Boss house at times was really hard to digest by the viewers. For example, the scene Karishma created when Gautam Gulati used wrong words for her in the initial days during a task, was simply needless. A couple of similar episodes of over-reaction and excessive emotional drama were insipid and got into the nerves of the viewers.

Gossip-cum-Politics: Almost everybody likes gossip, and we understand that Back-biting is an inevitable part of Bigg Boss the show. Interestingly, this season, the male members of the house played a key role in bitching and playing politics. Similarly the useless gossip and talking behind the back of the people seemed like a dirty politics after a certain point.

Unfortunately the idea of extending the show one month did not hundred percent work in its favour. After a long journey the show has now come to an end with just few hours remaining for the finale. May the deserving win and may this show return again, but, but…with new twists and ideas.
